Reebok have introduced new technical updates and improvements to the Sharks playing jersey for the 2012 Super Rugby season. By working closely with the players and listening to their specific demands to perform at their optimum, Reebok are able to enhance the jersey to the players benefit for another Super Rugby campaign.

The jersey is made from a variety of different fabrications which have been placed together to ensure maximum strength, breathability and player comfort. The front of the jersey includes two vertical panels which consist of a non-stretch, heavy duty fabric which gives the jersey added strength and durability. The side panels are made of a non-stretch textured fabric which provides extra grip and enhances player performance through improved binding. On the back, a stretch fabric panel has been inserted to the top half of the jersey to add to the comfort while the bottom half continues with the more durable non-stretch fabrication to ensure strength and to avoid giving the opposition any advantage in the tackle. All fabrication used in the manufacture of the jersey has Reebok’s moisture management technology incorporated into it. This system, known as PlayDry™, helps keep the players cooler, dryer and more comfortable. PlayDry™ technology moves moisture, accelerates evaporation, increases ventilation and reduces abrasion without trapping the body’s thermal energy, meaning comfortable players performing at their very best for 80mins.

This season will also see the introduction of Reebok Griptonite™ dots on the jersey. These dots have been strategically placed on the front panel as well as on both sleeves, to ensure that the ball carrier will have maximum protection and ball retention. Griptonite™ greatly increases the players grip while running with the ball in hand and retrieving high balls. The Reebok Griptonite™ technology also improves the players ability to bind and scrum as securely as possible with team mates in the many rucks, mauls and scrums that they will encounter during Super Rugby 2012.

Reebok are the official kit suppliers to the Sharks Rugby team, rekindling an association that dates back to the late 90's.

Reebok supplies all playing kit, supporter jerseys and associated Sharks gear to the Natal-based team. The Sharks are one of the most popular provincial/club rugby teams in the world, with arguably the most festive home stadiums in world rugby.

From 1996 till 2000 Reebok were the official kit suppliers to Sharks teams that included such legends of the game as Andre Joubert, Gary Teichmann, Henry Honiball and many more.  Reebok are hoping to revisit some of the glory days with the Natal Union.
